Hello, I am Crystal Troutt, owner of Troutt Old Time General Store and Market, and I LOVE all things vintage, antique, handcrafted, LOCAL and unique! Over the years, I have acquired quite a collection of vintage and antique Christmas decorations throughout my travels and junkin’ journeys. Today, I’m going to share with you my favorite vintage Christmas finds and how I incorporate them into my decor.
This year, I put our tree up on Thanksgiving day and spent a bit of time selecting the pieces I wanted to display. As you can see in the picture, I have a gorgeous seven foot cashmere Christmas tree! I like to add my own lights, so it’s unlit. I highly recommend a tree like this, because they do not shed as much as other artificial trees. You can find one very similar to mine RIGHT HERE! You won’t regret it!
Aside from my tree, almost everything else is vintage including the lights! With vintage lights, you will always have to do some work each year on them, but it is SO worth it!! There is just something about that special glow of the old time lights! We absolutely LOVE bubble lights! Now, are you a fan of the blinking lights? My husband loves the blinkers! I’m not a big fan, but we have both, so everyone is happy!
I love all the precious ornaments!
We LOVE vintage Shiny Brite ornaments, so of course, we load it up! As the name indicates, these ornaments are beautiful brightly colored bulbs that are very shiny! To make your tree look fuller, be sure to tuck ornaments inside the tree branches. The glass antique ornaments are so fragile, so you have to be extra careful when handling them. I actually had one break in my hand, so don’t be upset if it happens to you too! It certainly happens to everyone. I have found the best way to store those smaller glass ornaments is using egg cartons, so recycle your egg cartons for ornament storage. Works like a charm!
We use vintage blow molds to decorate under the tree. For our tree topper, we have this little antique felt angel, and she is beautiful! For a little extra sparkle, I love to add a lighted star right under the angel. You can never have too much sparkle!
The vintage style “Merry and Bright” sign was a Hobby Lobby find that mixed in perfectly with our truly vintage decor!
Our decorations spill over from the tree onto just about anywhere I can find a place! Lol! We love Kitschy Christmas decor…the bright vintage elves, Santas, angels and more. The details on the pieces are so fun!
How fun is this melted plastic popcorn Christmas tree?
I especially love the very tiny nativity setting on the top of the shelf amongst the angels.
Speaking of the nativity, as we head into the busiest time of year, don’t forget to remember why we celebrate this season. Luke 2:8-11 says “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.”
That is the biggest blessing to celebrate!! Jesus truly is the “REASON FOR THE SEASON!” I hope you have enjoyed this little tour of my vintage Christmas decor! Maybe it will inspire you to collect a few vintage Christmas treasures!
From our house to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very blessed New Year!

That tiny nativity set….When I was younger, we were given a nativity like that after the Christmas program at church. I have ONE left, we were pretty hard on them evidently! Memories!!

Beautiful. Thank you, and thank you Brooke for your guest blogger! Loved it! My Mom, and Nana always had those little angels. They were not vintage then. Wish I still had them!
