After a little over a week in the beautiful country of France we were off to Italy! There’s only one thing I can say to you about arriving in Italy: Mamma Mia!! It was everything I’d ever imagined and MORE! I know you are going to LOVE it like we did!!!
Make sure you are following my TRAVEL INSTAGRAM to see lots of fun travel info!
The first stop on our Italian adventure was Venice, the “City of Canals.” It is the capital city of Italy’s Veneto region. There are really NO WORDS to adequately describe the insane beauty of this city! It is by FAR the most UNIQUE city I have ever been. I loved it so much.
Can you believe THIS was the view from my room?! How crazy is that? We stayed at Spendid Venice, and it was in a fantastic location! The rooms were super nice and the people were very kind. I would highly recommend it!
This is what our hotel looked at from the outside. We had to taxi in and out to get to the train station on a water taxi. That is how everyone had to get around, since there are no vehicles! Other than that, you WALK…so you get plenty of exercise!
These alleys are just so typical. They are soooo old and full of character, and they are super narrow. I bet there are literally thousands in Venice, just like this one.
This was one of my favorite pictures I took. It just encompasses the beauty of the city so much…
Have you even visited Venice if you haven’t ridden on a gondola?!? This was definitely a highlight of our trip, mostly because you just can’t go to Venice without doing the most popular “tourist” thing there is!
I was amazed at how beautifully crafted the gondolas were! If you follow my TRAVEL INSTAGRAM, you may remember me telling you the story of how our gondolier fell into the water off the gondola! Oops!
The city of Venice is actually built on over 100 islands and it’s crazy that there are no roads – only canals! Within all of those canals are over 400 gorgeous bridges!
This is definitely an experience we will never forget (and the FOOOOOD)!
You are only seeing a TEENY TINY portion of the pictures from my trip in this blog. I took hundreds LOL…but I shared a whole lot on my travel IG during the trip! You can see several over there on my main page, and lots were in my stories, along with numerous videos.
Our next stop in the Venetian Islands was Murano. This island is known for its glassmaking!
We toured the Murano Glass Factory and it was an amazing experience. They don’t allow photos in their showroom, but trust me when I say that we saw the most beautiful pieces of art you can ever imagine!
Afterward, we had lunch down down the street at Ristorante La Fornace, and it was BEAUTIFUL and had tons of those beautiful glass pieces!
After Murano, we sailed over to Burano – the “colorful island” of Venetia! I was literally OBSESSED with the all of the color!! Pretty sure Blaize nailed it when he said, “This should be called BROOKE island!”
Burano has long been a fishing village and they say that the houses were originally painted colorful so that each fisherman could find his own residence when it was super foggy on the seas!
I thought it was so cool that all the paint requires approval by the government to ensure that the color choice matches and also to keep next-door neighbors from having the SAME color!
I loved this picture because it was a darker alleyway, but at the end was like a rainbow of color. The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was truly beautiful!
Can you see why I loved this island so much? How spectacular!
I just cannot quit thinking about the beauty and charm of Venice and all the Venetian islands! We have so many memories here that will last a lifetime!!
What was YOUR favorite part of our trip to Venice?!?! Don’t forget to read about our time in Tours France/Loire Valley and Paris!
Be sure to pin for later!

Thank you for sharing your travels! We visited many of these same places in the Spring. Though our day in Venice was soggy. Curious if you do all the research and booking yourself or if you ever use a travel agency? Do you research restaurants ahead of time as well or play it as you go?

We did use a travel agency, but I do a ton of research before all of our trips!
