As you have probably figured out by now, we are back in our Kentucky home. You can read all about that on the blog HERE, where I explain a portion of the transition and reasoning.
Being back “home” comes with all kinds of feelings. Now that we are settled back in, I feel glad to be back, although I was also happy where I was. It is a weird array of emotions, to be honest. I know God always has our best interest in mind, and while I can’t see the full picture- I know HE does, and that is what matters. In saying all of that, I am back in a place that I know I will be fully settled for a good while now (or at least that is what I think LOL)…so that brings me to look at this home in a whole new way!
We moved into this home 6 years ago, and we started building it about 8 years ago. In that length of time, lots of my styles have shifted, and while I have changed a few things about the house over the years, I haven’t changed much. Don’t get me wrong- I still LOVE my home. I love the nuts and bolts and most DEFINITELY the setting. Our land is my very favorite!
But, some of my style choices (inside) from that time have already become boring to me or outdated, as I LOVE to change things up constantly! I wanted to share with you just a “few” areas that I hope to be changing up in time… None of this will happen overnight, but a girl with decorating in her blood just can’t help herself! I have to get started soon!
Here are some areas I want to change and some “ideas” i am playing around with! My house is NOT cleaned up right now because I am in the middle of decorating and putting things up, so no judging!
The wood slat wall behind our TV…
I want to put wallpaper behind that! I am trying to decide what for sure, but if you don’t know by now, I LOVE texture and color. It is completely our style (mine I guess…and my husband appreciates it and is all in)…and I am fully embracing it! If you have never followed Brittany with Addison’s Wonderland, she is my BIGGEST INSPIRATION!
If I don’t put wallpaper, I do plan to paint it. I am for sure changing it away from the wood.
I am also planning to paint the built ins. I was already planning to do that before we moved, so I am definitely ready for that. I am thinking a deep sage green possibly, but that is not set in stone. I still have some thinking to do!
I am still obsessed with the dining room wallpaper, so it is here to stay for a while…but I took down the large mirror and sold it…and I am just not sure what I want to do on that wall. What is there right now will not stay like it is- this space is just kind of “sitting and waiting”. That black piece of furniture is a beautiful piece that I love, but I don’t think it fits anywhere in my current home, so I am trying to figure out what to do with it.
I do have a velvet tablecover on order and have fun plans to decorate the table in the waiting period. I also plan to paint the end chairs. You may remember me sharing them on Instagram FOREVER ago when I bought them for hardly ANYTHING at a local consignment store! I still love them, and I think they fit my vibe perfectly! I want to keep the mustard but paint the wood. I am thinking black, but I haven’t committed to that. Any thoughts?
I also am loving my hot pink dining chairs in here with this bigger table!
This big area above the archway is just so BLAH. I am not sure what to do there, but I am thinking either wallpaper or just painting it. I will likely paint alot of the walls in time, little by little…but I am in no hurry overall.
Eden told me she thinks a fun wallpaper, and I believe I agree. I will also evenually paint the ceiling something besides white. I like darker tones, but that’s not anything coming right now either- I am just dreaming 🙂
Hi Posie 🙂
I feel like my fireplace area lacks “umph”. It is just boring to me these days. I always feel like I decorate it nicely and add fun to it, but I am very eager to change it. It will be one of the first things to change.
I believe I want to paint the brick as well as the shiplap, but I am still in the thinking process on that. I am looking at inspiration. It will also depend on what I decide about the built ins and TV area. This is all going to change the look of the space a TON, so I want it to be just right!
Any suggestions you have, feel free to respond to this blog or on my Facebook post!
Another area that I am changing up around the house (in more places than just this one) is my lighting. I have honestly never LOVED some of the lights in my house. Some of them I do, but some I just settled. These kitchen pendants are some that I always liked, but they were never exactly what I loved. They are a little too farmhouse for my style now, and I want something that goes with more of a modern or eclectic/boho style. I still want pendants, but I am just not sure the look exactly. I will also change this box somehow. It will likely just be painted.
A couple other areas that are also getting different light fixtures are the GUEST BATH and the MASTER BATH. The master bath will also be getting a new mirror or mirrors, depending what I decide. That area was always one I just settled on with the lights and mirror, and they honestly never even fit. I look forward to seeing that change come to life!
I am excited to start sharing some new ideas and changes in my home, and I hope that even if my style may not be completely your style…you will find inspiration in my choices and ideas. I can’t wait to bring you along!

Can’t wait to see what you do!!
Love the changes, sometimes you have to live somewhere for awhile to know what you want. I not a good waiter. Lol
I feel the entire area above the arch should be the same brick to make it one massive brick wall.
I also feel you should have prayed & taken a few days for God’s guidance before deciding to move back to Kentucky.
I do wish you a lifetime of happiness.
Can’t wait to see what you do to your house….I know for a fact that it will be beautiful….
I think the wall above the fireplace would look great painted the same color that you are going to paint the bookcases. I love your idea of green. Your fireplace matches your archway, so not sure about how or if you should change that. You could tile it and put up a more modern looking mantle, but I do love the present mantle! I re-modeled my house around 5 years ago and wish I could change some things again already also. I also love a black wall behind a television. It helps obscure the tv. I love your idea of black on the wood in dining room sounds great also. You will figure it out and it will be beautiful I’m sure!
Looking forward to the changes. I always love to see what you come up with. Where do you look for inspiration?
Thank you! All over honestly. Pinterest, people I follow on Instagram, different designers and stores I love, etc.
I’d love to rearrange my living room furniture but my hubby won’t agree to it. We did paint it from a celery green to an icicle gray. We got new curtains as well, I love it. Lady I am with you about changing things up.
I can’t wait to see the changes you make! I loved it the way it was and I know it’s going to be awesome with the changes you make!
I’d consider it a new home and bring your new ideas with a fresh look wherever you like. I’d whitewash the brick with a very thinned out white to begin. It would be easier to match wallpaper as well
Your plans sound amazing. Can’t wait to see what you decide on.
I absolutely love your home outside & inside. I look forward to seeing how you change things up. I have never noticed the blank spot over the archway. Eden is going to share the talent of a designer/decorator like her Mom. ❤️ My home is totally farmhouse style, I hope to see y’all refab an old farmhouse one day. I absolutely love your style with the bold pops of color. That new tablecloth is oh so gorgeous, and I ❤️ the candles so much. I pray you have a tour of your boutique one day, meet & greet. Your family & staff are phenomenal folks.
Take care, God bless ❤️🙏 love & prayers.
Thank you so much! ❤️
