Today I want to show you one of the smallest rooms in our home~ the 5’x9′ kid’s bathroom! It is a room that started off with an outdated, bland look- much like the rest of this home! {You can look back at the kitchen, living room, dining room and master bathroom if you don’t believe me!}
For those of you who haven’t been following long, we bought this home 2 years ago as a foreclosure. It had been sitting vacant for a few years and was DEFINITELY a site to behold. We have done major renovations, and I am sharing them to you room by room! This room was actually one of the best rooms in the home, but it still needed some major attention!
This room is so small that it is VERY hard to get good pictures of it as a whole. In fact, it is nearly impossible.
I聽realize now that I am blogging that I forgot to get a picture of the bath area before, so…sorry! But, it is pretty much the same. We kept the same bath, just cleaned it REALLY good! {Lord knows it sure needed it!}
After some TLC, here is our Kid’s Bathroom NOW!
I decided to go with somewhat of an “Under the Sea” theme in here. I wanted to really brighten up the space by using the bright green paint color {Crocodile Smile by Valspar}! Since I have a boy and a girl, I needed to go with something that would be gender neutral, and this seemed like the perfect choice. I have to be honest, sometimes it can be hard for me to be gender neutral! It is so easy to decorate one way or the other {for me anyway}, but when I have to merge, I find it to be a bit of a challenge! Anyone with me?!
In this photo you will find a mixture of items that I already had on hand , along with some new finds. The mirror is one that I already had, but it was a pewter聽color and did not go with the look of this bathroom at all, so I painted over it with a very light coat of chalk paint! {Walmart brand~ Waverly Agave} That paint works great for small projects like this. I have used this same paint on another project as well, if you want to check it out.
I like how the聽pewter shows through and has an almost distressed look to it.
Since I already had the white frame, I simply framed some wrapping paper that I found at Hobby Lobby. I thought the colors went great聽with the room!
No, it isn’t a figment of your imagination. The shell was not in the previous picture! But anyway, isn’t the red coral awesome!?
I love this basket! It works perfectly for their shampoos and bubble bath and has a neat vintage feel that I feel like ties in perfectly with this space. {A list of where I got all of the items can be found at the bottom of the post.}
Here is the other view from the door way! Like I said before, it is impossible to get a whole view in one picture because of how the space is laid out and how small it is! As you can see, we painted the cabinets white and added new hardware! I like the whimsy look of the handles 馃檪
We also got a cute white shower curtain that will go with any bathroom we ever have, as well as some super cute curtain hooks from Walmart! The blue matches everything perfect and has a more mature look so that it can be used again if needed in another bathroom that is not specifically designed for children.
Now let’s view the room from the bath tub. {specifically, me standing on the tub!}
As you can see, we now have beautiful dark gray tile flooring. I never got a picture of the before, but it is the same as the master bathroom聽..nasty, cracky {is that even a word?}, unfolding linoleum.
I did a small gallery wall to showcase some of my favorite beach pictures of the kids. I love my blue starfish, so it made a great “center” point for the rest of the wall.
Here’s a closer look at the photos 馃檪
I love the look on Blaize’s face in this one…and Eden has the sweetest smile! I sure love these kids!!!
Do you notice a resemblance anywhere in this picture?! YES! The same polka dot wrapping paper that I had framed on the vanity was used to make this cute little sign. I got the chipboard cut out at Hobby Lobby for $2.00 and used modge podged it on! It ties the two together and looks so cute with all of the other colors on the wall!
Well, what do you think about my attempt at an Under the Sea bathroom?! The kids absolutely loved it when I showed them yesterday! It felt so new to them. Before this, it had been just pretty bland. It had the green walls but no real decorations or feel to it. I feel like it now has a fun, childlike feel to it, and I hope they will thoroughly enjoy every second of being in it!

This looks GREAT! I redid our powder room a few months ago and used scrapbook paper in white frames. Love when something is so simple (and cheap) makes for the perfect art piece. I’ll have to keep the wrapping paper in mind for the future. Beautiful job!
