I have never claimed to be an overly complicated decorator…in fact, I am about the exact opposite!
I decorate with items I love, no matter what the cost. In fact, I love free and thrifted items as much as a beautiful Pier One item all day everyday!
Occasionally, I have a space that needs a little somethin’ somethin’! I am sure y’all know exactly what I mean!
Well, my gallery wall has been lacking in a couple of areas (I will show final pictures soon), and one of the areas was small…so it was tricky to find JUST the right thing. Instead of searching high and low and spending valuable time looking- I decided to DIY it because I had JUST the right thing to do the trick!!!
I had this wooden circle in my craft stash from forever ago- and this rooster was an ornament from Christmas! I bought it at Hobby Lobby with the intention of doing SOMETHING with it, and this turned out to be the perfect solution!
The wooden circle was $1 from Walmart and the rooster was half off at Hobby Lobby ($2.50)!
I used the same stain that I feel like I use on EVERYTHING….gel stain in walnut!
I simply took a paint brush and brushed my gel stain onto my circle. I then wiped it off with an old towel while it was still wet, which gave it a much softer look.
I then took my rooster and detached the twine and then hot glued it onto my circle!
In order to hang it and give it some extra cuteness, I took the twine and attached it to the back (just with hot glue because this is a very light project) so that I could hang by the twine!
It looks just like a store bought little sign- and I LOVE IT!
What do y’all think? Simple but super cute? That is what I think! I love it. The easier the better…because it is like I always say, “Ain’t nobody got time for hard projects!”
This would also be super adorable in a kitchen! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
