When I found out I was having a little girl, one of the first things I started thinking about was her room. I had all of these ideas and images in my head, and I pinned like a mad woman. She was my first child, and we had prayed for years for her.聽Fast forward 4 years, past the sappiness that I was getting caught up in there for a minute. We bought a foreclosure to live in for a while and completely renovate. Her room was like all the others, lacking! It was dirty, with paint all over the floor. Literally. Whoever lived here spilled tons of paint on the carpet and just left it. Unreal. I wish I had more pictures, but at that point, there was no blog…so I didn’t really think a lot about before pictures. I just wanted to get out of the nastiness!
We painted and got all of her stuff into her new room, and well…that was it. It is a very oddly shaped room, with some low ceilings in spots, and I honestly felt at a stand still on what to do. So many other areas of the house needed attention first, so this room stayed on the backburner…kind of like our master bedroom that I finally revealed this week. I am FINALLY starting to work on the layout and decorating in her room! It is going to be a slow process, more than likely. I am starting to work on it, but haven’t gotten really far. Who knows, I may surprise us all and move right along…but I wouldn’t bet on it! 馃檪
I did get one portion of her room done this week, though…and I LOVE it. I have been accumulating frames and different odd and end pictures and pieces for a few months now as I found them! I knew I wanted to do a gallery wall, and it was so much fun to find random things to fill her wall!
**I am so frustrated because I took before pictures of all of the frames that I painted and re-did, but I cannot find them anywhere! So many of these were thrift store finds that were brass, and some of them had funky pictures in them. I wish you could see the before pictures! If I come across them, I will definitely add them.**
Here is her wall before {along with a SUPER messy room, because at 4 years old…it is nearly impossible to keep it clean!}:
Here it is NOW! Like I said, 85% of these pieces are DIY pieces or modge podges letters and symbols. This wall was very budget friendly. I would say, all in all, I have about $50 TOPS invested in this wall, including every single thing used, even paint.
This was an arrow that I found for 50% off at Hobby Lobby, and I mod podged scrapbook paper to it.
I loved this Princess Training canvas. I found it at At Home in Nashville, and it fit the color and style of her room perfectly! {And every princess has to understand what is expected of them 馃檪
This was a bright gold frame that I took a thin layer of pink chalk paint and ran over it with sandpaper to distress.
The tissue paper wreath on her door is a super cheap and easy DIY project that anyone can do. It has been a favorite of mine since she was born.
I can honestly say that this wall turned out just the way I had hoped! I wanted something fun and inexpensive…and it is just that! It really has me excited to try to finish up the rest of her room so that it can be another “complete” room that can be marked off the list!

Love all the frames that you have re-vamped etc and the canvas is so cute. One of the things I also like is how you place them on the wall too i.e. the ‘quirkiness’ of not having them all straight, I think it gives them more character somehow. It just shows you don’t have to spend a fortune to make things beautiful – and you certainly have a ‘knack’ for that. She is one very lucky little girl to have a Mummy like you 馃檪 Can’t wait to see what you do next – take care Brooke 馃檪

Aw, thank you Denise! She really loves her wall, and some other parts of the room that I hope to share one day! Haha! What is funny is that I loved the quirkiness of the frames not being exactly straight, but it really bothers her. {She doesn’t take after me, I guess!} I told her it made it look even more fun and that was how Mommy meant for it to be. All she kept saying was, “It isn’t straight, Mommy!” 馃檪
