If there is one thing I love to do, it is laugh! There is nothing more rewarding than a really good belly laugh. I don’t just mean a giggle. I mean the kind where you are snorting and can’t catch your breath. Those are the best.
This week at work was nuts. There is really no other way to describe it. We converted from a billing system that we had for over 30 years to a brand new one…and let me tell you, it is different. Of course we will all get it, and it will become second nature before we know it. But now…well, now it is foreign. Tension was high and stress was higher in our department. My specific job has changed dramatically, and administration was trying to figure out back up situations and who would do what. At any given time there was 2-5 people in my office watching and trying to learn the job. I will admit, my heart was racing and I felt on the verge of a small panic attack a couple of times!
At one point, in the midst of the chaos, one of the ladies that had previously done my job was in my office training as a back up, along with our Vice President and my trainer. You really have to know this lady. She has no filter, and she will ask or say ANYTHING. If it is on her mind, she will say it. That is what I love about her. Well, as we were training…and things were getting pretty intense, my phone received a text message. It was laying on my desk on vibrate. When it went off, I jumped {because it scared me to death}! All of the sudden, I hear “BROOOOOKE…did you really just POOT?!?!” She was dead serious, and I wish you could have seen the look on her face…and MINE. I almost fell out of my chair. Everyone in the office DIED LAUGHING. I swear I didn’t think we would ever stop. We were all snorting and crying. It was as though God sent that moment to us {and yes, I know it was rather inappropriate} to tell us to lighten up. That moment couldn’t have come at a better time. Our nerves were shot. We were all at our wits end. But in the midst of the madness, God sent a “poot” to lighten the mood and make us all see that “this too shall pass…”
Psalm 126:2 “Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
