In honor of my 40th birthday, I decided to paint a whimsy birthday cake canvas, and I am absolutely LOVING how it turned out!

7×14 canvas from Dollar General
A Frayed Knot paint in the following colors: Cotton, Carnation, Re-Fabulous, Pineapple & Grape
Re-Fabbed Paint Brushes (coming back in stock soon!)

First, I painted the canvas and the sides white to give the canvas a good base!

Next, I went with the color Carnation and painted a thick, whimsy line at the bottom of the canvas to be the first layer of my “cake”.

I then painted another thick, whimsy line on top of the Carnation in Grape and Re-Fabulous to act as my next layers. I did leave a very small amount of white in between each color to give it a true “whimsy” look.

Next, I decided to mix each of these colors with white to create lighter shades as my next “cake layers”, and repeated the same steps. I ended up having six layers total!

To make my candles, I grabbed a small paint brush and painted on vertical lines alternating between the colors Carnation, Grape and Re-Fabulous! I ended up having 7 candles total.
