-2 large wood beads
-2 medium wood beads
-1 small wood beads
–Re-Fabbed Collection Dark Green Raffia
-Jute ribbon
-Apple Barrel Harvest Orange
-Apple Barrel Snow White
-Kilz Dark Wax
-Various ribbons for my Re-Fabbed bow. Tutorial HERE
First you, take your green raffia and wrap it around your hand. I wrapped mine about 8-10 times, but you can make this as small or as large as you like for fullness. Did you know Fronds is the technical term for the top of the carrot?! The more you know!
Next, grab a long piece of jute ribbon and tie a knot around the raffia. Important: you don’t want to make this piece too short, because this is how we are securing our beads in the next step.
Now for the fun part! I actually decided to make TWO of these carrots, to show what it could look like painted or stained with Kilz Wax! For the painted carrot, I used the color Harvest Orange mixed with a tad of Snow White.
For the stained carrot, I used Kilz Wax. I simply took an old towel and rubbed the product directly onto the beads. Look at the before and after! Seriously, I LOVE this stuff.
You know this project wouldn’t be complete without a Re-Fabbed Bow! Not sure how to make one? Tutorial HERE
I grabbed various prints and textures of ribbons I loved, made my bow, and tied it where my raffia and beads meet! How perfect?!
Lastly, I cut my “Fronds” straight across to give it a more natural look! This totally completed it, don’t you think?!
Well, which one is your favorite?? The orange or the stained? Aren’t they adorable???
