I want to show y’all just how EASY and AFFORDABLE crafting can be! I truly think we overcomplicate it sometimes!!
I picked up these fabulous blue spindles from Anything Goes Trading Co. with a project in mind. I thought it would be super fun to tie ribbon and fabric onto the tops of the spindles to use in my Americana decor, so that’s exactly what we are doing today!

what you’ll need…

- Wood Spindles (I purchased mine from Anything Goes Trading Co., they were already blue!)
- Re-Fabbed Branded Scissors
- Red, white & blue ribbon and fabric of choice
Let’s get started!!! I decided to leave the spindles EXACTLY the way I bought them for this project- so the first step was to cut my ribbon and strips of fabric!
The more ribbon, the merrier! Give me all of the fun colors and patterns!!
Simply take your ribbon or fabric and tie in a knot around the top of your spindle! Repeat process in alternating patterns and colors until your spindle is “full”, which is totally a personal preference!
If you don’t have spindles, you can ABSOLUTELY do this with sticks! In fact, I have used sticks myself A LOT over the years!
Your ribbon/fabric not all have to be the same length, either! Just make sure they are long enough to tie around your spindles (or sticks!). You can always cut them shorter, if needed.
I ended up cutting some of my thicker ribbon in half, I found this to be MUCH easier!
These little streamers are perfect for photo ops or to use as decor in a vase! And not just for the Fourth of July, think Christmas or St. Patricks Day, Valentine’s Day… the possibilities are ENDLESS!
Be sure to watch my LIVE Video for a better visual understanding of the process!
What do YOU think?!? With only 3 supplies and a few minutes of your time, this festive project is hard to beat!!!
This would be SO fun to do with kiddos this Summer, too! Let them get some sticks from out in the yard or go on a little adventure to your local junk store for some spindles!
You can add as much, (or as little) ribbon as your heart desires!!
