As I am decorating my home after moving back in (whew, what a whirlwind- read all about that HERE!!), I am truly diving into my TRUE style…as different as that may be to many people. It is refreshing and new and bold and eclectic and maximalist and totally ME and my family.
I am excited to welcome you in and share with you as I walk in my true style…and I hope it encourages you and helps you to see how you can walk in YOUR true style, no matter how crazy or even completely neutral that is! There is no right or wrong, and that is the most amazing part!
As you can see as we navigate around my living room right this minute, you can see that it is very much an eclectic style of many different styles and elements all working together to create a fun and cohesive look.
The look of my home is considered Maximalist. It is a style that is very much a real and viable style, but many times, it gets looked at in a negative light because of the minimalist movement. I want to try to educate more on this style, but for today- I want to focus on the eclectic style and how I achieve this look!
In creating an eclectic style for your home, I firmly believe in simply gathering and curating items that you truly LOVE, no matter the style or era. There is no right or wrong…althought you do want it to all flow together.
I am a huge advocate for candlesticks of all shapes and sizes! They work together and create some super fun and unique looks…as well as adding height to your vignettes. They absolutely do not have to be matchy-matchy! THAT IS THE FUN PART!
Don’t be afraid of COLOR either! You do want some sort of a general color scheme…but none of it has to go perfectly together.
If it looks right to you, it is right.
I know professional interior decorators will not agree with me, but I do not make sure everything is to scale completely or believe everything has to be completely balanced. Many times, I do not like the same thing on each side, because that feels too perfect and boring to me.
My built ins change daily…because I am always changing things up!
I did share THIS BLOG聽about some ideas I have for these built ins, if you want to check it out and give me your feedback on what I have in mind!
I LOVE my blue chair that I have had for years! And that “sassy and classy” pillow is my fave!
While I ADORE my couch…because it is so comfortable, I do know it isn’t necessarily the most aesthetically appealing…but it is what works best for my family, so I work with it 馃檪
I do love this view, as it looks into the kitchen and the brick archway and into the dining room with my gorgeous wallpaper that I am obsessed with!聽
I am loving the angel wings in their new location…Perfect fit!
This little section of the house is leading the way into my bedroom. I LOVE the couch picture and the moss hanging from the large vase!
I understand this may not be everyone’s style or cup of tea, but that is not what this is about. This is about inspiring YOU to do what YOU love in your own home, without worrying what anyone else thinks at all!
Can you picture the wallpaper where the wood is?? How cool would that look? And if I painted the built ins? I am soooo excited to see these changes! Just takes time to get to it all. I know you all can fully understand that!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my eclectic, maximalist living room! Maybe it gave you some inspiration for your own home! I would love to hear from you in the comments, either here on the blog or on socials!
Be sure to pin for later!
