Every now and then something just “speaks” to you. Like, I bought some cone Styrofoam thingys from Dollar Tree over Christmas, and I initially thought I would make a tree of some sort with them. It seemed logical.
And, I actually did make a few trees on a Facebook Live…but I still had some left that I didn’t use.
Well, fast forward a few months to NOW.
I was looking through my craft supplies and saw these unused cones and immediately they spoke to me and said, “I AM A CARROT!” And…well, there you have it. That was my inspiration!
I decided to make them into a carrot!
I thought yarn would be the easiest thing to work with for this project, so I went to Michael’s and found some beautiful orange yard for my carrot! Everything else that I would need, I already had! Winner!
Here are the supplies I used for this project:
Styrofoam cones (mine are from Dollar Tree)
Hot Glue Gun (You can find my cordless one HERE on Amazon!)
Orange yarn
Greenery (I cut mine off of my faux flowers- there was a lot of excess!)
Now, I don’t have tons of pictures from the process, but if you want to see the LIVE VIDEO, you can view that at the bottom of this post, or you can watch the step by step process here!
I simply took my yarn and started wrapping it around my cone. On my live, I started at the top, and here- I started at the bottom. To be 100% honest, I prefer starting at the top, out of the two.
I wrapped until I had it all tight and very little white showing through. I would have preferred NO white, but I must not be that good.
Once I had all of my orange yarn set and glued down in places that were sticking up, I took my greenery and arranged it to look pretty and stuck it into the styrofoam…and then put some hot glue to help it stay put.
As if it wasn’t already cute enough, I made a little bow. I just couldn’t help myself…I had to…and it was the PERFECT addition!
I simply took a couple pieces of burlap, cut into 2 thin pieces, then added some raffia on top.
I bunched them together in the middle, took a piece of raffia and wrapped it around the middle to get a “bow”…and bam. Cute little bow for my carrot.
I just hot glued my bow right onto the top of my carrot. I LOVE IT! This ended up being the absolute cutest project for Spring.
