Do you have any pine cones in your home from your fall décor? Or maybe you purchased the scented pine cones during Christmastime? Oftentimes, we toss those things in the trash after the holidays without hesitation, but today…I’m going to show you how to take those pine cones and create a super adorable wreath to take us into Valentine’s Day!
If you need some pine cones, many retailers have them deeply discounted right now. I just purchased a large canister of pine cone ornaments from Hobby Lobby for 75% off.
Here are the supplies I used for the project:
– Pine cones
– Wire wreath form (I purchased a heart form from the Dollar Tree)
– Assorted ribbon in different widths
– Scissors
– Hot glue gun and glue sticks
The first thing I did was sort the pine cones by size to ensure that the sizes were equally spread throughout the wreath.
Next, I started gluing them to the wreath form using hot glue. The best method I found was to apply the glue to the pine cone directly, then press and hold onto the form.
Then, I turned the wreath over and applied glue over the wire and pine cone. This really helped to secure the pine cones to the wreath form.
I continued working my way around the wreath.
After gluing all of the pine cones on the wreath, there were several gaps where the pine cones didn’t fully cover the frame.
To fill in the gaps, I decided to weave some 1.5” ribbon throughout.
I love how the pine cones have that touch of snow on them! The red and white gingham ribbon really helps the white snow pop! For the finishing touch, I decided to add a Re-Fabbed bow!
Most of the ribbon was purchased at Hobby Lobby. The snowflake trim was in the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby with the gift wrap supplies.
To create my bow, I used my popular RE-FABBED BOW TECHNIQUE!
How fun is this bow?! Using a variety of ribbon and trim really adds dimension to the bow. I love using different textures and prints.
Finally, I attached the bow to the top of the wreath. This wreath turned out so adorable!!! I can’t wait to add it to my décor to transition my home a bit for Valentine’s Day!
So tell me…did this inspire you to grab some of those leftover pinecones and make you a festive little wreath?!?!?!
Be sure to PIN FOR LATER!

you can also soak pine cones in hot water they will close, put though the back leaving the bottom leaves on the back side to hold cone. When they dry out will spread out again. wear gloves as they will get sap on your hands.
