I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…never pass up the wedding aisles at Hobby Lobby! There are many crafty things that are not wedding specific, and today I’m bringing you a fun project straight from the wedding aisle!
I love photo frames! I can find a use for just about any size of frame. While browsing through the wedding aisle, I saw these sweet little place card holders and thought they would be adorable photo frames! How fun would these be on the fridge or even on a file cabinet if you work in an office?
Here is what you will need:
Small frames (Mine came from the wedding section at Hobby Lobby)
Pictures
Magnets – I would recommend disc magnets over the sticker roll
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Optional – ribbon or other embellishments
Like I mentioned, these frames were in the wedding section and were 40% off, making them only $1.80 each!
Since these were easel back frames, I first needed to remove the easel back to create a flat surface. To do this, I just tugged a little and used my scissors to pry up between the little hinge.
I chose a few pictures and just printed them off on my home printer. I used the frame insert to cut my picture to the correct size.
I removed the clear plastic protector from the frames and inserted my pictures.
Then, I added magnets to the back. I used this sticky back magnet roll that I had on hand, which is totally fine if you aren’t using the photo magnet to actually hold items. If you intend to use the photos as actual magnets to hold papers, notes, etc, then you would be better purchasing a stronger magnet.
For the square frames, I cut four pieces of magnet to attach to all four corners. I removed the white backing from the magnet and applied hot glue to the sticky side. I pressed down firmly on each magnet, holding for several seconds.
Make sure to not cover the edges of the photo backing, so you can change out the photo when you want.
Now, you know I love all things bold, bright and whimsical, so I am not a huge fan of the brown…BUT, I wanted to show you all how to use these as a blank canvas. These can be painted or embellished to match YOUR style! To be honest, I will probably slap some paint on the brown frame when I have time!
Here they are just plain Jane.
Of course, I wanted to add a little color, so I grabbed the hot glue gun and some embellishments that I found on sale a while back.
How fun are these cute little frames?! You could also paint fun designs or paint them a different color, etc…but I kept things simple this time so that ANYONE could feel like they can accomplish this fun little diy!
These are the perfect size to add to a filing cabinet in the office. What a great gift idea for a friend or grandparent! I hope this has inspired you to spruce up the photos on your fridge!
Be sure to PIN for later!
