I love GIVING at Christmas time WAYYY more than I love receiving… and someone I LOVE to give gifts to, are my kids teachers! This year, I made them their own colorful Merry Christmas Door Hanger!
Now, this can be tweaked for ANY person or ANY profession! Keep that in mind when you’re thinking about Christmas gift ideas!
Here’s what you’ll need…

- Round piece of wood to use as door hanger (I’ve had mine for years, but you can find them at Hobby Lobby!)
- “Merry Christmas” letters from Hobby Lobby
- Colorful Paint!
- Ribbons of your choice
- Dollar Tree Apple
- Hot Glue
Here’s the deal. You might THINK this project would be expensive to make… NOPE! This set of Christmas letters are only $3.99 at Hobby Lobby, with an additional 40% off. THAT’S why you need to shop BEFORE the season, because that’s when you get the deals on the good stuff!
To get started, go ahead and paint your board whatever color you want! I went with white, because I knew the letters would be colorful.
On this specific sign, it took 3 coats… but that all depends on what sign you use, and what color are going for!
Now listen… you could totally use the traditional reds and greens… but, I wanted to go for a more FUN look!
This was just the beginning… wait until the end to see how the letters ended up looking!!
Of course, no re-fabbed project is complete without a re-fabbed bow! I chose all these fun, bright colors to match the letters!
I also painted my Dollar Tree apple to match the letters… and hot glued it all on! Now, it’s perfect for my kiddos teachers!!!
Like I said earlier… take this project as inspiration, and make this fit with ANY person/profession you want!
You can staple some ribbon to the back of the sign to create a hanger! That way, they can hook it on to their door. And that’s it… fun, easy, and SUPER CHEAP to make!
