One of my favorite things to use in decorating is a TABLE RUNNER. Of course I enjoy using them on a table, but I also love using them for many other reasons…one of which I am going to share with you today!
I found this beautiful table runner at Tuesday Morning recently, and while it was beautiful for its intended purpose, that was not what I would use it for…and I knew that IMMEDIATELY!
You see, what I loved most was the gorgeous Christmas trees on this table runner. They were so full of beauty and character! Each one was a little different than the other. Tons of possibilities were flashing before my eyes!
Let your creativity run wild with this one…and do not limit yourself to thinking you have to have the exact same runner and supplies I had. This is meant to INSPIRE YOUR creativity!
I had a large piece of rusted metal that I had gotten from my favorite junk store, Anything Goes…and it was just sitting in my craft room waiting to be loved on. Today was the day!
What I did next is just self explanatory and simple, but man did it make a beautiful display. I simple took the trees that I loved (all but 2 of them) and cut them out of the table runner.
Once they were all cut out, I arranged them onto my metal piece to see if I thought they would look good on there….and OH EM GEEEEE…it looked amazing!
All I needed to do now was glue them on! (I used hot glue and it worked perfectly!)
And….ta-da! All done. I am in AWE of how gorgeous this looks. Seriously, I would buy this at a store all day everyday.
This is not where I will keep it forever, but I wanted to stage it there for a picture so I could share it. I haven’t decided where I will keep it for good yet, but I will be sure to show y’all when I do!
I hope this helps you think outside of the box!

Your ideas are so creative. I would never thought of putting those trees on that piece of metal. But I have found a use for table runners, I have a tall hutch type bookshelf in my office at work, and I can buy a table runner with a decoration on the end and lay it so it hangs off the end of the bookshelf and it’s like a picture. I admire your creativity.
I will be making this. So adorable! Thanks for the idea.
I’m still using this recycle craft from a few years ago. I didn’t have a runner but I did have a few old placemats so, that is what I used. So, many compliments that the following year I invited a few girls over with their old placemats and showed them what to do…..of course I called it “Brooke’s Christmas re-do” =)
